                 NEWSLETTER

Autumn 2008

Welcome to Autumn with BeeLeaf!

A slightly delayed but definitely worth waiting for edition of the Newsletter.  Dibley has been concentrating on his experiential work with Pam, Mandy and the groups so hasn't had time to continue his column this month but I'm looking forward to hearing from him for our first edition of 2009.  For those of you who remember him as a tiny puppy please see the picture below!

Lots of exciting developments going on, as you will see, and some fantastic new courses coming up.  Plus the last part of the Research Module in December, and the continuation of the Foundation and Intermediate courses.

If you're new to this newsletter then I hope you will enjoy it, and will think about writing something to share with other members of the CCP for one of our subsequent editions.  Thank you to all who have promised articles for the next one - there's still space available!!!

Enjoy the winter.  It's important to clear away the clutter and debris from this year to move on to what comes next. I love that thoroughness of nature.

Articles, observations, poems, jokes, etc for the next newsletter by Friday 16th January 2009 please to Editor@BeeLeaf.com

INTRODUCTION TO POST GRADUATE RESEARCH DESIGN

What an inspiration! I just wanted to record my thanks to Mandy and Pam for an excellent first two days of this three-day course.    I had thought I was the only one with a secret fear (and a great avoidance strategy to go with it) of research.  Strangely it seemed not.  Two days with a group of friends working experientially with immediate access to the wonderful Dr Don Rawson has left me with the sense that it will indeed be possible to complete a research project, and that it might even be fun.  I'd set myself up for fun over the weekend, determined to make the most of it, but with a real streak of Normandy beaches optimism and the anticipation of being one of those dead bodies the others climb over to reach the shore.    Over the course of the weekend we learned a vast amount about research, and some more about each other.  Intensive but inspiring, and I am looking forward to day 3 in December.    Incidentally if you need to start really slowly in approaching research, as I did, you might like to try the BBC website.    AD
Buddhist Psychology?

Following on from last issue's focus on Meditation and Mindfulness, Helen Lee has written an excellent article considering whether there is such a thing as Buddhist Psychology, and how Buddhist practices might connect with Contemporary Psychotherapy.

NEW COMPANY STRUCTURE FOR                                                                    BEELEAF

Over the Summer Mandy and Pam have been making many changes and improvements to the structure and running of BeeLeaf to make it more economically efficient and more environmentally friendly.

Trainees will have noticed the introduction of double-sided printing in manuals due to investment in a new printer. This saves paper and makes redundant the jokes about the weight of BeeLeaf manuals.

Also, the folder reclaim has gone well and many are now receiving their manuals in reused BeeLeaf folders. We have also tracked down a new manufacturer of the folders to have future orders made from recycled plastic. Still keep bringing in your redundant folders though as this all helps to save  landfill.

The biggest, most complex and time costly change has been that Mandy has been negotiating with the relevant government agencies, a new Company Structure for BeeLeaf. BeeLeaf has now officially won the status of a not-for-profit Social Enterprise as all BeeLeaf's profits have been invested back into the organisation to continue to improve services to its members. This will greatly reduce the money the tax people can take, helping to keep costs to Trainees down and benefits up, and in time may open up the Institute and CCP to possibilities of other funding and material support to help us through these difficult times for everyone.

We are very excited by these changes and hope that you are too! So please 'watch this space' and look out for future benefits!
