Introduction

Postby Tom on Sun Aug 03, 2008 7:49 pm

thank you Mike for setting this up here so nicely...

Sometimes it is easier to write or speak to someone when you know them a bit better therefor I suggest to introduce each other in this section.

If you want to take up this offer to introduce yourself ( here some suggestions)...

1) What is your name?
2) What has lead you to the wider mind research forum?
3) ...and if you like give a small detail from your private live, something you are dealing with, or hobby or special gift you have

I am looking forward hearing from you.

Tom

Please feel free to get in touch with me or the administrator for any suggestions to make thing better here.

hi this is Tom here,I am moderating this forum that mean I will be available for all of you who are writing here.

>2) What has lead you to the wider mind research forum?
Over the past year I have been facilitating the Beeleaf Research Interest Groups. This space is thought as a resource which accompanies the RIGs. We will have the timetable and articles for the RIGs here.
This forum is also a chance to for you to start thinking about your own research projects and inviting other students to have a look at your ideas.

Currently I am trying to find a carpenter a self designed shelf for my living room... has anyone some suggestions? ;-)

Hello,
I am Amanda-Leigh - I have been coming to research groups over the past year and have really enjoyed all the learnings and inspirations I have taken from them. This has naturally lead me to the reaearch forum which I think is a fabulous space for us all to support and nurture each other's learning.
I am currently working towards my research dissertation- just struggling to choose a topic - so many juicy areas to choose from. I really enjoyed the Beeleaf Introduction to Research weekend and have begun my mini fun research project - beware I may jump out at you with a microphone in hand - paparazzi style.
Unfortunately I am not able to make the next meeting of the research practice groups as I am on a training - I do hope there is feedback and comments on the forum afterwards.
Sparkles to everyone! :)

hi Amanda,

welcome to the forum!
I glad to have such a supporter on site. Good luck with the research module homework.
I am still about to smoothen some of the technical details - somehow my first reply seem to have gone lost. Also have hopefully made it more easy to supply directly... just need to get everybody to log on...
Great to have you on board - hope to see you in November then.

Hello all,

I am Alyson and I have just joined the forum. I have only just started my journey on the research project and I am still a little apprehensive about it all. I guess I could remember to take small bites! I also really enjoyed the Introduction to Research weekend module and am looking forward to this weekends RIG meeting. The main learning I took from it was to keep it small and simple.

I am currently interested in addiction and attachment and hope to do my research project in this area.

That's all for now
I look forward to seeing people on Saturday
Cheers
Alyson

Welcome Alyson,

yes it is very important to have a manageable chunk size. Don brought this across very well.
This is also something we may do in some of the readings - meaning to focus on one aspect at the time. We can discuss this on Saturday.
Looking forward seeing you then.

tom

ps The papers are for download in the section RIG timetable.

Hi, I'm Debs.

I'm also at the start of my journey into research, and looking forward to the second part of the Research training on Dec 6th. I was very nervous about it to begin with, but I'm glad I've begun sooner rather than later as I get to have more time doing it. :)
The RIG is an excellent idea for support and exchange of ideas. I'm on the Intermediate training at the moment, so I'll be attending for the first hour, and hopefully listening to recordings of the second hour later on.

Right now I'm still looking around for 'what feels right' for my project; however, I'm really interested in pain relief, and also the bi-polar spectrum.
At home, when I'm not working or studying, I'm writing or walking the dog. Dog takes priority...
